Just got this little angel. It’s a cavapoochon (cavalier king charles spaniel, poodle, & Bichon mix). This has been such an amazing addition to the McAllister family! If you guys have any advice as to potty training or anything else puppy related we would love to know!

Comment below if you have any advice! x

Whitney: How I envy you having that adorable ball of fur. Will she stay small? I have been looking for a small dog (10 lbs or so)
for quite sometime and have been unable to locate one. I lost my small heeler about 3 months ago and I am such a dog person that I am miserable without my own little one to snuggle with. You are so fortunate to have found one that is such a doll. Did she come from a private party or the pound? I had thought about a small black poodle but after seeing your little doll, I guess I am open to anything that is small and cuddly. I am 82 and yes, I would like it potty trained, but that goes with the territory. My very best to you with your pup and also congratulations on your marriage. DWTS is one of my favorite shows — keep up the good work and again, my since best wishes to you both. Take care of that special addition to your home. I will keep looking but there is not too much to offer where I am living.

Hi! What breeder did you get your puppy from?

Our puppy is 1 year old now, he’s a goldendoodle. When we were potty training we used a bell. Hung it on the door knob or by the door. We made his paw hit the bell every single time we went out. Eventually he learned to hit the bell when he needed to go out. He regularly did this by about 14 weeks old. 4 months old we didn’t have any more accidents in the house. Also preventing accidents helps them learn faster. If he pees in the house, then take him out in less time the next time. Enjoy him he is the sweetest!!!

Crate training is the best thing I ever did for any of my dogs. I highly recommend!

    Hi,
Paper training is simple, use puppy pads and they also sell scented drops at the pet store to encourage using the pads. Take the dog to the pad after naps, eating and other intervals. They usually learn very quickly if you are consistent.
Outside training, take them out as soon as they wake up from a nap and directly after eating. Then at other intervals due to the small size of the puppy’s bladder.
Puppy classes and socialization are important after all vaccines are given.
    ❤️?

She is so cute. I’ve owned labs my entire life and I love training my babies. I trained my first dog to be as if he was a service dog. My newest dog I am training him to be a hunting dog. It might sound like a lot but I would take my puppies out every 2 hours then increase the time whenever you are around the puppy. If the puppy is in a crate, keep the her area small because they don’t want to sit in the business so they will hold it until you get home. That will also help with long term potty training. Giving a bunch of love and treats will be your best friend during the training process. By doing that you will create your best friend. Good Luck!

Hi Witney, I recently just went through training a puppy myself. I found the biggest help was estabilishing a routine! Same time, and place to pee. Then always give a treat when they go to the bathroom outside. If you catch them peeing Inside, say NO then take them outside to finish their buisness, even if they don’t have to go. At night time take away their water a few hours before bed. We normally did a bathroom break once a night until he was able to hold it throughout the night. He is just over a year now and he is a very routine dog. Always goes at same time of day it’s great! Good luck!
